was dry, I applied the other layers of paint, starting with the more opaque and finishing with semi-opaque and transparent ones. A similar, slightly subdued palette of turquoises and greens with an addition of yellow, ochre, brown, black and white dominates in all the paintings in this cycle. This limited palette was sometimes enriched with hints of other colours, which were necessary to break the basic colour scheme but were almost unnoticeable in the final effect.
