CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW unreliable checks and balance or veriHication process. I don’ t think I am the only person who has experienced thoughts like, am I really seeing this or am I imagining it? Did we have that conversation or was it something I dreamt?
Blink is a piece that plays with perception in a couple of ways. From across a room it reads as a painting. It’ s only when you are within I don’ t know maybe 4 feet of it that you see that there is actually no paint on it and the forms are made from fabric and that there is a texture and sculptural quality to the piece. The two panels are mostly similar but not identical. I think a function of our perception is to recognize, assess and follow patterns. Blink is a piece that is abstract enough so that you see it all at once but one is snagged into the details because it won’ t line up as perceptually consistent. When I’ ve shown
