Artist Mihai Paul ' s work a channel of communication between the inner Self and the outside world to challenge the relationship between the viewers ' perceptual parameters and their cultural substratum to induce them to elaborate personal associations , offering them a multilayered aesthetic experience . His paintings are rich of atmosphere and capture a new perspective on the world . One of the most impressive aspects of Paul ' s work is the way it accomplishes a successful attempt to urge the spectatorship to look at what they leave behind create . Hello Mihai and welcome to LandEscape : before starting to elaborate about your artistic production would you like to tell us something about your background ? You once stated that your calling towards such form of expression came quite recently and funny enough , by accident : do you think that chance has played a crucial role in your artistic journey ? And in particular , how does your cultural substratum inform the way you relate yourself to art making and to the aesthetic problem in general ?
Hi LandEscape team and a big welcome to your readers into my world and soul . When I look back on everything that lead to my artistic practice it is hard to pinpoint the exact process that took place ; thats why I see myself as an “ accidental artist ” if there is such a term . But what a fortunate happening it was ! It was in the month of September , 2 years ago when , at the moment , I was living with a family in London . One day I was helping clearing some storage space and there was a broken canvas that was meant to find its way to the bin ; instead I took it but with no serious thought in mind . I bought just black and white acrylics and borrowed some brushes from their children ( the loss in case of a failure to be minimal ) and gave it a go , ending in my first and the catalyst of my works , namely “ Clar de Luna ” – which is the Romanian translation for Clearness of the Moon .
So yes , I would say that chance had a big say in the whole outcome . It was a mixture of perfect circumstances , having a lot of free time , without a girlfriend at the time , new in town and recently moved from my sisters` with a private space to enjoy and explore , the cherry on top being the opportunity stated above . I always liked artistic things though , just never thought I would be one to create them . I am a self taught artist , that is
