unique , something more distinctively divergent to the invariance of our common and somewhat traditional perception .
When it comes to the texture of my work , whether it be in oils , acrylics , or watercolour , I am always playing around with different materials and substances looking to find something fresh and pristine . I love working with sea salt , vinegars and pure alcohol when working with wet watercolour pigment as it seems to bring my landscapes and terrestrial backgrounds to life . I feel that in certain areas of my paintings , the very dark areas are brought to life with my use of permanent Chinese / Indian Inks whereas the black watercolour is dark but still translucent in a sense that ultimately it is diluted with liquid substance . This intense darkness I feel assists my work when speaking to the viewer in contrast to the light of the artwork , the subject matter , elements of good and evil , and the contrast of deluded selfmysticism .
An interesting fact about the creation process of “ Musical Strokes ” that I think you will enjoy is the development process in the creation of the piece . I am as well a musician and during my spare time when I am not making art , I am either playing the guitar , piano , violin , or accordion . I have had a strong connection with music ever since I was a young boy and I am always listening to music while working on my artwork . In saying so , I wanted to create a piece where the entire subject matter , meaning , feeling , and colour would be primarily and solely based off of my reaction to certain musical styles . Normally when I create any art , I am always listening to music , specifically long instrumentals and soothing movie scores and soundtracks . However in the case of musical strokes I created a playlist with a large variety of musical styles , fast paced , hard rock , slow , and jazzy , international , etc . after all my materials were set up around me , I played the setlist in its entirety where my body then spoke to the music . My gestures , hand movements and strokes were all in direct foreshadowing to the mood and the melody . This was a wonderful experience and I have done it several times with
