unique, something more distinctively divergent to the invariance of our common and somewhat traditional perception.
When it comes to the texture of my work, whether it be in oils, acrylics, or watercolour, I am always playing around with different materials and substances looking to find something fresh and pristine. I love working with sea salt, vinegars and pure alcohol when working with wet watercolour pigment as it seems to bring my landscapes and terrestrial backgrounds to life. I feel that in certain areas of my paintings, the very dark areas are brought to life with my use of permanent Chinese / Indian Inks whereas the black watercolour is dark but still translucent in a sense that ultimately it is diluted with liquid substance. This intense darkness I feel assists my work when speaking to the viewer in contrast to the light of the artwork, the subject matter, elements of good and evil, and the contrast of deluded selfmysticism.
An interesting fact about the creation process of“ Musical Strokes” that I think you will enjoy is the development process in the creation of the piece. I am as well a musician and during my spare time when I am not making art, I am either playing the guitar, piano, violin, or accordion. I have had a strong connection with music ever since I was a young boy and I am always listening to music while working on my artwork. In saying so, I wanted to create a piece where the entire subject matter, meaning, feeling, and colour would be primarily and solely based off of my reaction to certain musical styles. Normally when I create any art, I am always listening to music, specifically long instrumentals and soothing movie scores and soundtracks. However in the case of musical strokes I created a playlist with a large variety of musical styles, fast paced, hard rock, slow, and jazzy, international, etc. after all my materials were set up around me, I played the setlist in its entirety where my body then spoke to the music. My gestures, hand movements and strokes were all in direct foreshadowing to the mood and the melody. This was a wonderful experience and I have done it several times with
