Manchester based visual artist Karol Kochanowski ' s work considers the relationship between direct experience and visual intepretation , to draw the viewers through a multilayered journey to inquire into the notions of progress and self-destruction , as well as to explore and represent the various versions of the ‘ truth '. In his body of works that we ' ll be discussing in the following pages he captures non sharpness with an universal language , to trigger the viewers ' perceptual parameters . One of the most impressive aspects of Kochanowski ' s work is the way it accomplishes the difficult task of questioning contemporary visualization practice that intends to draw the viewers into an immersive , intense visual experience : we are very pleased to introduce our readers to his stimulating and multifaceted artistic production .
Hello Karol and welcome to LandEscape : we would start this interview with a couple of questions about your multifaceted background . You have a solid formal training and you hold a BA of Fine Art that you received from the Manchester Metropolitan and you also nurtured your education with a
BA of Interactive Arts : how do these experiences influence the way you currently conceive your works ? And in particular , how does the relationship between your cultural substratum dued to the relationship between your Polish roots and your currentl life in the United Kingdom inform the way you relate yourself to the aesthetic problem in general ?
Hello , I am really grateful I had a chance to study at Manchester Metropolitan University . This experience definitely helped me to understand the rules western contemporary art world follows . After graduation I felt fully equipped and ready to appear in outside of university art scene . One of the most important lessons I ’ ve received on Fine Art course was the understanding of failure . I have realized that mistakes are just the moments of stepping in to unknown , a new field we have to challenge , bring the lesson out of it and move forward . This applies not to the creative process only but life in general .
Before I have graduated in BA Fine Art , I did Art & Design Foundation and after , a year of Interactive Arts course at the same university . The experience on these courses taught me that being an artist /
