CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW had summers off to work on his books and research. In the late 1940’ s, he bought half of a 100 acre farm in the Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts, then a 5 hour drive from New York City, and built a vacation home there. My family spent every summer there for all of my childhood until I went off to University at age 18. It was there that my love of Landscape first emerged.
