nurtures lives. The name of this painting came from an old Chinese saying. I love the meaning of it, so I decided to picture it. Such panoramic view of nature consisting of intricacies in various forms would easily lead to eyes to wanton kind of chase across the painting. Therefore I let the water, mist, clouds and blank space to set all the things apart, and at the same time they are a continuum. There is the continuum, and there is the repetition of disjunction, which forms it. The disjunctive parts are the reference material of real scenic splendors of nature and the traditional landscape. Integrating the bits and pieces of the outside world and incorporating them into the tradition configuration needs the pulsative rhythms as a source of sensory input vibrate the whole visual field.
Furthermore, to determine the norm so as to assay the freshness and commitment with which new ideas were developed in a Chinese context is of the first importance. As the Orthodox School in Qing Dynasty( 1644-1911) combined the characteristics of old masters and achieved the great synthesis from which the quintessence is the unmistakable signature. In many respects this generation had reaped what the preceding generations had sown. It had assimilated the synthesis of techniques of rendering the changes of linear constructural forming, the subtle, delicate, melting, sweeping tonalities of ink. Therefore, in the province of art, Qing Dynasty is an epoch of representing a generalization of the means of expressions, the protean designs of the configurations, the expressive powers of brush and ink, while the core values, the spiritual stature of a nation are still the underlying themes.
Therefore, Chinese arts especially landscape, is not just having an impetus of its own; it should perpetuate the lineage of Chinese culture and the artist should reveal the facility of manipulating brush and ink. Thus is what I am doing, and I hope that I can display the distinctive national features with zeitgeist.
