CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW
« Rencontres »(" Encounters "), 30x36, mixt on canvas, 2013
The abstract side to this painting represents my mind.
Your landscapes often allow an open reading, a great multiplicity of meanings: associative possibilities seems to play a crucial role in your pieces. How important is this degree of openness?
I’ m attracted to open spaces, by the infinite, by freedom. That’ s essential. And yet that does not disregard the real world. The world in which we live. Global information has an impact on who I am and what I feel. Climate change, but also wars and injustices, all have their effect. I think of myself as a socially committed artist and I want my audience to feel this, I want my work to reflect this. I believe gloominess, greyness and some of the more sombre qualities of my paintings are eloquent indications of this.
