CONTEMPORARY ART REVIEW
I conceive my works instinctively. Those who’ ve seen me work first-hand can attest to this. My approach has been described as chaotic, impassioned, and disorganized. I get very eager to jump into new projects. I’ ve been trying to work on slowing myself down, and coming up with a plan before I begin working. My process is always evolving
However, I think this passion and energy speaks a lot to my process. For instance I never do any preliminary drawings to begin silkscreen prin. I start drawing my separations directly onto the films or sometimes even directly onto the screen itself, like I did with my piece“ O”, which is a 6 layer reductive silkscreen print. I spend a lot of time deciding on color. Since my work is heavily abstracted, color becomes as focal point. In some cases, it is used to help to convey emotion and evoke memory.
My drawing style is an essential aspect of these prints. I always make sure that my hand is present in these pieces. With the printmaking process, the way of creating can be extremely mechanical. I want to use these mechanical processes to create my very natural and intuitive work. The evolution of my drawing style is a little unusual.
