Deanna Lee ' s work establishes a channel of communication between abstraction and reality: her pieces could be considered abstract as well as completely realistic in the way they“ record the residue of growth, change, and decay in ceilings, walls, and floors.” In her AWGP series, which we ' ll be discussing in the following pages, she captures the ambiguity between the real and the imagined with her use of a virtually universal visual language that triggers viewers ' perceptual parameters. One of the most impressive aspects of Lee ' s work is the way it accomplishes the difficult task of addressing how, in our contemporary age, viewers relate to a work of visual art; her works draw viewers into an immersive, intense visual aesthetic to address the subjective experience of forms made by natural forces. We are very pleased to introduce our readers to her stimulating and multifaceted artistic production.
