Celebrate the 4th of July in Lander
Steeped in history with modern fun for all!
By Michelle Escudero
Lander and July 4th go
together like apple pie and
vanilla ice cream. Lander is
the place to be for an
Independence Day celebration
like none other in Wyoming.
The day starts off with the
Challenge for Charities Half
Marathon and 5K run and
walk and youth 1-mile sprint.
(See www.landercommunityfoundation.org for more
information.) This community
wide fundraiser supports local
nonprofits and is the perfect
way to start your July fourth.
The half marathon scenic
route includes the rolling hills
surrounding Lander. The 5K
route is through town. The
festivities begin at
Centennial Park on Main
Street and include a pancake
breakfast, music, prizes and
much, much more.
Centennial Park is the
perfect vantage point from
which to watch the Pioneer
Days Parade that includes
mounted and decorated horses,
46
trick mountain bike troupes,
musical groups, and fancy oldtimer automobiles. The parade
is touted as the World’s Oldest
Historical Pageant Parade. Be
prepared to watch a widerange of colorful community
groups roll by.
