Annual Events & Festivals Lander is home to a variety of festivals and events that draw people from all over the state, the country, and indeed, the world. Lander Communit Awards Luncheon January 17, 2014 Join in on Lander’s annual community awards celebration. Luncheon will be served at the Inn at Lander Best Western. Pioneer Days Parade & Rodeo July 3-4, 2014 The first Pageant was held near Lander in 1894 and has remained a popular event since its inception. The Pageant includes a 2-day rodeo (the oldest paid rodeo in the world) and the only Independence Day parade in Fremont County. Today the parade is a combination of history and current events. The 2012 Pioneer Days Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. on Independence Day to celebrate our freedom - come join the fun! To participate, or for more information, contact Margaret Appleby, (307) 332-2365. Independence Day begins in Lander with the annual Half Marathon, and continues after the parade with a Buffalo BBQ in City Park. 70th Annual One Shot Antelope Hunt September 17-20, 2014 For visitors interested in Lander’s One Shot Antelope Hunt - a historic hunt that draws celebrity sportsmen from around the country to try to drop a pronghorn with a single bullet - the One Shot Evans/Dahl Museum at 545 Main Street provides an interesting combination of information about pronghorn and history of the One Shot Hunt. The museum is open 10-5 Monday through Saturday during the summer. Call 307-332-3356 for more information. 18 46th Annual Wyoming State Winter Fair 6th Annual Lander Riverfest 2014: Dog Show Jan. TBA, Beef Show TBA; Horse Show Feb. 28; Trade Show March 6-8 The Wyoming State Winter Fair is held in Lander every March and is Wyoming’s only winter fair. Events include horse, cattle, sheep, and livestock shows; a business fair; major entertainers and a dance. July 26, 2014 The festival, which takes place in Lander City Park, features original and handcrafted art sold by regional artists, demonstrations, live music, food, and drinks. For more information, see www.landerartcenter.com or call 332-5772. 20th Annual Lander Fly-In Lander Brew Festival September 7, 2014 Hosted the 1st Sunday after Labor Day the Fly-In attracts pilots from throughout the Rocky Mountain Region to demonstrate aircraft of all types including both American and foriegn planes. Spectators may also have a chance to fly in some of the aircraft brought to Lander for the Show. For more information contact Dennis Vogler June 6 & 7, 2014 Brewers from surrounding Rocky Mountain states gather in Lander the 2nd weekend in June to celebrate the official drink of summer, and attendees sample such diverse brews as On Belay IPA and Chocolate Stout. Live music, food and unlimited samples make for a fun-filled day. Inter ational Climbers’ Festival June 7, 2014 The Fremont Annual Road Tour (FART) is held in conjunction with the Lander Brew Fest. July 16-20, 2014 The International Climbers’ Festival is held annually the second weekend in July, bringing climbers and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world to Lander to try their skill at climbing and to enjoy world-famous speakers, slide-shows, and other entertainment. Fremont Annual Road Tour South Pass Cit Gold Rush Days A vintage baseball tournament, the Wyoming State Mining Championships, cowboy poetry, gold panning, archery Inter ational Pedig ee Stage Stop Sled Dog Race Jan. 31-Feb. 8, 2014 The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race begins in Jackson at the end of January and follows the Continental Divide Snowmobile Trail through Lander and other Wyoming communities. This unique event is the largest sled dog race in the lower 48, and draws top mushers from around the world. www.landerchamber.com The sled dogs are anxious to get going on the start of the Lander leg of the International Stage Stop Sled Dog Race. Live music and entertainment will be provided throughout the three-day event. Lander Communit Concer Association Series For over 60 years the Community Concert Association has brought the most dynamic musical entertainment to Lander. The series presents different, high quality performers at the 600 seat Lander Valley High School auditorium. The venue features stae-of-the-art lighting, sound and accoustics. Native American Pow Wows Summer 2014 Traditional Indian dancing, music, food and camaraderie characterize the powwows on the Wind River Indian Reservation and surrounding area.
