Dear Reader,
I am hearing new accents and words that people here apparently think
are English but that I know, frankly, are not. I’ve also just learned about
something called ‘airtime’ for my phone, I am calculating currency
conversions and I think I’m doing reasonably well for a jet-lagged
foreigner.
Then it’s made clear to me that I have been horribly misinformed about,
well, just about everything over, well, just about my entire life. For
example:
First, I discovered that despite what all of my teachers taught and
despite what all of the maps showed when I was shown them – the real
truth was that The U.S.A was actually not actually a continent, but even
if we counted all of the other parts of North America, it was not even the
largest Continent on the globe. Wow! My whole sense of the universe
shifted. I was dizzy.
