Celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Marina … by making one !
Exactly 50 years on from the first car rolling off the production line , the team from Practical Classics Magazine , the Morris Marina Owner ’ s Club , and Ital Register will be frantically trying to revive a 1971 1.3 Coupe which hasn ’ t run for 30 years … restoring it to perfection in front of our live audience on the discovery + Live Stage over the three show days .
The car is the second oldest production Coupe known to the club and has been brought back from barnfind condition in readiness for this challenge by Practical Classics editor Danny Hopkins .
“ We ’ re celebrating the Marina ’ s 50th in style , with the Coupe hopefully driving off the stage at the end of the show ,’ Danny said , ‘ but much more than that we ’ re celebrating the return of one of the most important events in the classic car calendar and the discovery + Live Stage , where the magic really happens .
Another Practical Classics project will be one of the star lots in Silverstone Auctions ’ sale . PC ’ s VW T2 camper , fresh from its round Britain coastal tour with headline sponsor Lancaster Insurance , will be auctioned in aid of Prostate Cancer UK ( see page 43 for more details ).
