( continued from page 19) include new trailheads located in downtown Lakeville and at Ritter Farm Park. The park trailhead will provide modern restrooms and picnic facilities for visitors. Once completed, the greenway will travel 20 miles through Burnsville, Credit River Township, Farmington, Lakeville and Savage. The project is a partnership between the City and Dakota County.
The construction of East Community Park Phase II has begun; this is the final project funded as part of the 2021 Park Bond Referendum. The new park construction includes a playground, dog park, community garden, kayak storage, and other amenities. Construction will be ongoing throughout the summer with an official 2027 opening.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS
Electric vehicle charging stations are available for community use at a variety of public parking lots in Lakeville. The EV charging locations include:
• City Hall
• Heritage Center
• Lakeville Area Arts Center
• Ames Arena
• Heritage Library Plus there are more throughout the City.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES
Lakeville is home to many lakes, wetlands, streams, prairies and woodlands. City Environmental Resources staff help to manage, promote and protect these important natural features.
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
Each spring, the City of Lakeville celebrates Earth Day with a community-wide effort to protect and preserve the environment through education and hands-on activities.
This annual celebration brings residents together to learn about local ecosystems, sustainability and the importance of clean water in our community.
WATERSHED CLEANUP
Lakeville Watershed Cleanup encourages individuals, families and groups to take part in cleaning up trash and debris from local parks, trails, ditches and water bodies. This community effort plays an important role in protecting Lakeville’ s lakes, wetlands and rivers from pollution. Volunteers are provided with supplies and safety tips, and the city coordinates designated drop-off locations for collected waste every spring.
