AIRLAKE INDUSTRIAL PARK
Airlake Industrial Park is one of Lakeville’ s most significant economic engines, playing a central role in shaping the city’ s growth from a rural community into one of Minnesota’ s fastest-growing suburbs. Established in the late 1960s, the park was developed by Maynard Johnson and colleagues at Hitchcock Industries, who envisioned transforming farmland into a modern industrial hub that could attract business, industry, and long-term investment to the region.
The name“ Airlake” reflects its unique origins—“ air” representing the Airlake Airport located adjacent to the park, and“ lake” referencing nearby Lake Marion. This intentional blend of transportation and geography set the stage for a development that would become one of the largest contiguous industrial parks in the state.
From its earliest days, Airlake was designed to support a mix of manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and commercial uses. Over time, it has grown into a thriving business community that now includes hundreds of companies and thousands of employees. Airlake Airport is a key transportation asset in Lakeville and an important part of the Metropolitan Airports Commission( MAC) reliever airport system, which helps reduce congestion at MSP International Airport while supporting general aviation needs across the Twin Cities region. Conveniently located in the Airlake Industrial Park, the airport provides easy access for corporate travel, flight training, aircraft services, and private aviation.
ALOFT AVIATION
Aloft Aviation, the airport’ s fixed-base operator( FBO), provides essential services including fueling, hangar space, aircraft maintenance coordination, and pilot support.
