WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

In 2018 the Lakeville Chamber and twelve of our members created the LAKEVILLE WORKS program.
Lakeville Works is a partnership between the Lakeville Chamber, the City of Lakeville, and Lakeville Area Schools. We work together to allow students to explore their future. We also partner with Dakota County, Dakota County Technical College, and others.
THANK YOU to the members who make this work possible through their time, talent, and treasure. BTD Manufacturing *, Dakota Electric Association *, Delmar Company *, Dick’ s Sanitation *, Gunner’ s Garage, Hearth & Home Technologies *, HOBO- Chemquest- Triton *, Loeffler Construction & Consulting, QA1 Precision Products *, Interstate Power, Xcel Energy, and Schmitty & Sons *(* indicates founding Lakeville Works donor).
YOUTH SKILLS TRAINING AND CNA PROGRAMS Through YST, students are receiving hands-on learning, paid work experience, and industry certification in our local manufacturing and automotive repair shops. Many students have stayed on with their employer, creating an immediate workforce solution. Through the CNA certification prep program, students are engaging in career exploration and curriculum to prepare for their industry certification exam. They are conducting clinicals at Chamber member partners.
Future 101: Exploring Life After High School is geared to families with students in grades 8-12. Eight 25-minute breakout sessions guide students and their families through the post high school decision process- post-secondary education options, financial support, in-demand careers, maximizing high school, and straight-to-work options. Held each fall, the free event also features a resource fair for families to connect with the schools and other local resources.
MADE IN LAKEVILLE TEACHER TOUR
In honor of Manufacturing Month, each October the Chamber and the City partner to bring a couple dozen Lakeville teachers on a bus tour of our industrial park, which is one of the largest in the state. Teachers learn about the cool things made right here in town and the careers available in this industry. The group gets off the bus for a full inside tour of two businesses – which include some good treats and branded swag!
