CITY OF LAKEVILLE DEVELOPMENT MAPS
The City of Lakeville experienced an active year of development in 2024, with an annual building permit valuation totaling $ 257.8 million.
Lakeville’ s population is 75,217 according to the Metropolitan Council. This equates to a 8.2 % population increase since 2020. Lakeville is the largest city in Dakota County and the ninth largest in the state of Minnesota.
There were numerous ribbon cuttings to celebrate new businesses in 2024, including commercial and retail businesses, restaurants, medical office developments, as well as several industrial park projects.
Lakeville issued 285 single-family permits in 2024 and ranked # 2 in residential permit numbers in the Twin Cities. In addition, the City issued permits for 149 townhome units and 89 multi-family units. The variety of housing types being developed in
Lakeville is consistent with the Envision Lakeville goal of providing housing choices for“ people of all ages and stages of life.”
The private sector invested $ 75.1 million into commercial and industrial park development in Lakeville in 2024 and the largest permitted project was RL Cold( a cold storage facility), valued at $ 32 million.
Lakeville is home to Airlake Airport, a public use airport owned by the Metropolitan Airports Commission. It serves recreational fliers but is also ideally suited for business aviation. The airport currently has a 4,099- foot runway and full-length parallel taxiway. Several improvements are ongoing at Airlake Airport to better meet the needs of recreational and business aircraft, including adding additional hangar space and plans for the future expansion of the primary runway to 4,850. Aloft Aviation, the fixed base operator at Airlake Airport, is the official flight training center.
