Food and drink fare well
The white elephant stall at Thornhill Manor’s annual fete last month did
wonderfully well. Backed up by many other stalls and activities such as the
Holy Rosary Convent Marimba Band, the entire fund raiser achieved its objective.
As usual, food and drink played an important role
in ensuring the success of the day. In order of
popularity were cakes, curry & rice, pancakes,
hamburgers/boerie rolls, German bokwurst and
salad and bacon & egg rolls. A very popular tea
garden and pub manned by members of the
Sundowner Club looked after the liquid refresh-
ments.
Big “thank yous” were accorded to Penny Perrow
who organised the whole event, all the many
residents and management who made it happen
and to friends, family and Lakesiders who
supported it and turned it into a big success,
despite a wet start to the day.
