Homeowners need to be checking their council accounts
On the back of this whole Voltex issue, I would like to draw homeowners atten-
tion to their council accounts. You need to be check, check, checking everything
on your accounts. Check your water consumption every month, make sure it is
in line with your usage. Make sure that council are not estimating your readings
for months on end. On average they should be doing an actual reading every 3
months, if not every month. A good tip is to take your own readings and keep a
record, a photo of the meter taken on the same day of the month, is a good idea,
should any disputes come to light.
How to read your water meter:
Reading your meter is easy, once you know what the numbers on it mean.
Your meter has one row of numbers – for most meters this is eight. The five num-
bers on the left-hand side represent kilolitres (1000 litres). The three numbers
on the right represent litres.
In the diagram, the meter represents 126
kilolitres and 487 litres.
