Lake Wedowee Life September 2020 | Page 6

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR There are days in 2020 that I have to stop and think what month it is. Anybody else experience this? I mean now, with school back in session and football (hopefully, fingers crossed) getting ready to kick off, it’s a little easier to tell... But, May, June and July were just a jumbled up mess of days that I knew it was summer but that was about it. And there were times it was paint drying slow and then BAM! Summer is over once again. My phrase for 2020 is “the world has gone turtle” There are times that I feel like we are in a bizarre reality and at any minute we could be Pam Ewing waking up to Bobby in the shower. (Yeah... I went old school for that pop culture gem.) But, all jokes and pop culture references aside, 2020 has been nothing short of interesting. We have lost some amazingly fantastic people this year. We have laughed and we have cried. And, if you are like me, probably screamed in frustration a time or twenty. But, we have all adapted and for the most part moved forward. Are there things I miss... Absolutely. Are there things I have learned that I can live without... yep! I guess what I am trying to say is that we continue to move forward and evolve and get better. While so many things have been taken away, we felt it was important to continue our Lake Wedowee Life Take Your Best Shot Photo Contest and this year’s submissions didn’t disappoint. Maybe it was because we were all sheltering in place at the lake instead of our respective primary homes. Regardless of the reason I think we saw some of the best sunsets, rainbows, pets and people than ever before. But, then again, it might be because we were forced to slow down and enjoy the season. Never the less, whatever the reason, thank you to our readers for the continued support not only of our photo contest, but also our local businesses and Lake Wedowee Life itself. If it were not for the readers and our amazing advertisers, we would not be nearing the end of our 12th year! We hope you enjoy this look back at the 2020 lake season. It’s definitely one to remember! Enjoy Life Kelly ON THE COVER And the Winner is... Sawyer Cobb made the best model for his mom Alison’s contest entry. We loved the symbolism the photo inspired. To see more of Sawyer and his brother Austin also be sure to continue reading this issue! Please submit readers photos to our email address. Email us at [email protected]. 6 LAKE WEDOWEE LIFE
