M u s i c & M e m o r i e s b y K E L L Y C A L D W E L L Music that Makes Your Heart Smile “Smell the sea and feel the sky Let your soul & spirit fly into the mystic” Van Morrison Are there songs out there that make your heart smile? “Into the Mystic” by Van Morrison does that for my mom and that lyric is the reason I am even writing about music in this issue. With every thing “going turtle” in the world today, I haven’t listened to a lot of music that makes my heart smile lately. I have been too worried, stressed and probably a little depressed to bother. I was wrong and it took a little social media post from a store I have never visited in person to make me realize how wrong I was. Wildflower Clothing and Home in Watkinsville, GA posted a cute little graphic with Van Morrison’s picture and that lyric today. The owner said something about Anti-Anxiety Anthem of the Day. Not only did I read the lyric to myself, but I heard the song in my heart. Instant mellow and it got me thinking of what other songs have that power over me. Most of the time the songs that chill me out the most are singer songwriter, a guy and his guitar type of song. Not a lot of hype, simple, pure and peace. These songs will get you started on finding that zen where the outside world gets so quiet and you can finally breathe again. I Believe (In Everything) I’m Alive JJ Grey & Mofro Kenny Chesney & Dave Matthews “And I believe In the voices out here Telling me to hold on But let go of my fear” Not many of you have probably heard of JJ Grey, but this Florida boy is amazing and I was fortunate to see him in concert last summer. I Believe (In Everything) is about hope and love. 50 LAKE WEDOWEE LIFE “And today, you know, that’s good enough for me Breathing in and out’s a blessing, can’t you see Today’s the first day of the rest of my life” Heaven in a duet right here. Oh my goodness I have loved this song fro the moment I heard it the first time. Dave Matthews has been a great way to mellow for me since the 1990s. And, this song does not disappoint.
