LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

“ Can we all agree that in

2015 not a single person who was asked ‘ Where do you see yourself in 5 years ?’ answered correctly .”” From memes of 2020

Happy Birthday to US ! Y ’ all with this issue that you are reading right now , Lake Wedowee Life celebrates its 13th full year of existence . Every year we get to celebrate is another year I cherish and 2020 good grief , closing the door on that year is an accomplishment in itself .
We said goodbye to some phenomenal people and we spent more than half the year sheltering in place ( or in a lot of instances Sheltering at the Lake !).
Like every year 2020 had its ups and downs . But , I don ’ t know of a year that had pendulum swings quite like 2020 . Reality was more than any body could have imagined . The tragedy , the sacrifice , the sorrow . All of it was just too much . Future history books will have a fun time picking and choosing what to include about 2020 . I don ’ t envy those students that have to take that test . ( Again too much )
I am thrilled to be starting a new year with the same hope and excitement as we do every year of Lake Wedowee Life , but I think 2021 may be a little extra special .
For one , I am an official Lake Wedowee ( waterfront ) home owner . I have lived close to Lake Wedowee for 15 years , but I closed on a renovation project in December that makes it official . You guys will see the transformation in a future issue or two , plus read all about the saga of selling my old house .
This issue , however , I dusted off my reporter hat to give y ’ all the skinny on what ’ s going on with that big announcement of broadband internet coming to the area we had in January . We have all packed our patience when it comes to high speed internet availability in this part of the world , but maybe the end of that journey will be over sooner rather than later .
We are also reminding you of boater safety in cold weather months and I have declared it The YEAR OF THE TACO ! We will feature a taco recipe in every issue this year and we kicked it off with Julie Culpepper ’ s take on potato street tacos … I tried them and they are wonderful . As always please take time to ENJOY LIFE and BE KIND !

Enjoy Life !

Kelly
