COVID Update for CMH Long Term Care
The team of compassionate providers, caregivers and support staff at
Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility continue to work diligently to keep our residents
safe. Safety remains priority number one and is reflective in our rally cry
of “KEEP COVID OUT”.
That said, we recognize the emotional toll this pandemic has taken on
those we are trying to keep safe. We know life is about more than just safety
and we are striving to make sure our residents are happy, engaged and feel
loved. Staff from every department are doing what they can to bring a bit of
joy to each resident every day. Whether it is with formal activities or informal
conversations; I see this effort every day in the Activity department’s fun antics,
to the housekeeper who takes a few minutes to help with a puzzle, to
the nurse who reads a letter from a loved one. I hear it from my office when
the staff and residents in the Memory Care Unit get to laughing and having
fun playing a game or visiting. I also hear the compassion and gentle words
of our caregivers when someone is having a bad day. We know they miss
their families but we are proud to be surrogates for their loved ones until
things change.
I think it is also important to note how amazing the residents are handling
this challenge. I am constantly impressed with how resilient they are! They
take masked caregivers, nasal swabs, quarantining, and visitor restrictions in
stride with a “can do” spirit. They continue to make us smile (under our
masks) and remind us daily why they are called the “greatest generation.”
They are amazing.
Please continue to monitor our website and social media for the latest on
everything from facility wide testing to outdoor visits. These will fluctuate with
the trend in our community and as issues pop up, but our focus will remain
steadfast on what matters – our residents.

Bringing the Fishing
Hole to LSHCF!
Since we can’t go to the fishing hole, we are
bringing the fishing hole to us! On Friday
morning, Sept. 4, we will have a stock tank
set up in the front of the building. We will
stock it with catfish and bluegill and residents
will fish like it is the real deal. If our outdoor
visits are still in place at this time, families
may observe from a proper
distance after
screening.
