From Playgrounds to Piers: Exploring Local Parks
Take in Lake Minnetonka’ s picturesque scenery by visiting one of the many parks, beaches and trails. Trails wind around the lake and offer gorgeous views. There are also playgrounds, picnic areas, a bandshell and plenty of grassy square-footage space for annual events or casual gatherings. Excelsior The Commons( Lake Street): A 13-acre park on the shores of Excelsior Bay. It offers a bandshell, playground, two beaches, basketball and tennis courts, and a baseball field.
Excelsior Parkland( Highway 19): This 15.5-acre space includes community garden plots and Studer Pond, a large wetland surrounded by woods and wildlife.
So-Hi Community Park( 435 Division St.): An accessible gathering and play space for children on the south side of Highway 7.
Deephaven
Deephaven Main Beach( Parkway Street): Deephaven’ s largest park, offering a supervised swimming beach, docks, playground, canoe racks, sport court, and trail access with views of Carson’ s and St. Louis Bays.
Thorpe Park( Minnetonka Blvd.): The centerpiece of the city’ s park system. Amenities include a playground, loop trail, flower gardens, basketball / tennis courts, and winter hockey rinks with a warming house.
Cottagewood Children’ s Park( Cottagewood Ave.): Two playgrounds, a gazebo, and a water fountain located just across from the historic Cottagewood General Store.
Village Hall Park( Cottagewood Road): A year-round hub for tennis and baseball in the summer and ice skating in the winter, providing easy access to the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail.
Burton Park( Minnetonka Blvd.): A 14.2-acre nature retreat along the LRT trail with scenic views of Carson’ s Bay and a fishing pier.
Greenwood
Greenwood Park( Covington Road): A hidden neighborhood gem with a tennis court, basketball court, swings, and playground equipment.
Shuman Woods Park( St. Albans Bay Road): A heavily wooded escape perfect for observing nature and quiet walks.
