PHILOSOPHY OF YOUTH PROGRAMS
The Lake Forest Recreation Department provides equal opportunity for all residents to participate in programs . No participants shall , based on race , sex , national origin , or disability , be denied equal access to programs or activities .
VOLUNTEER COACHES
Parent volunteer coaches and assistant coaches are needed for each team . Parents may request to coach with one other parent in order to work out their personal schedule . If this is abused , we will assign all coaches . If you are interested in helping out , please attend the mandatory volunteer coaches meeting prior to the season . All coaches will be contacted in March with all of the details .
LAKE FOREST BASEBALL ASSOCIATION PARTNERSHIP
The Lake Forest Recreation Department ( LFRD ) and Lake Forest Baseball Association ( LFBA ) currently partner to develop our young baseball players both on and off the field through an all-encompassing youth baseball system . This baseball system will include both House League Baseball and Travel Baseball options . House Leagues for athletes ages 4 through 14 are implemented and managed by LFRD .
Travel Baseball for athletes ages 8 through 12 will be implemented and managed by LFBA . LFBA provides athletes , ages 8-12 , the opportunity to represent themselves and our community through the game of baseball while emphasizing fundamentals , hard work , teamwork , loyalty , discipline and fun . Our ultimate goal is to put our players in competitive situations that not only develop their character but also their skills as baseball players so they may continue their athletic careers into high school and beyond .
LFBA ' s season typically runs May through July with additional opportunities for Fall Ball and indoor winter workouts . For more information , please visit www . ScoutsBaseball . net or email LFBAScouts @ gmail . com .
SPRING TRAINING ( DEFENSIVE & HITTING CLINICS )
A perfect way to warm up for Baseball season , the LFRD Spring Training Defensive Program will help sharpen your avid baseball players defensive skill set AND help them develop their throwing technique . Our professional staff will work to teach useful techniques and mechanics for defensive body position , game strategy and footwork . Players will also learn the proper mechanics of pitching which will also be applied to general throwing strength development . Players may only register for one program to ensure we get as many kids the work they need .
