On a very , very cold day in January , I sit in my office reflecting on the warmer days of summer 2021 and the fun that was had right outside my window . Everything from camp days to CROYA concerts … last summer was packed with smiles , laughter , and activity .

Summer 2022 is set to be even better !

We are truly blessed to have support from organizations such as The Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation . This group of volunteers works hard throughout the year to raise money to support our programming and facilities . You ’ ll see three very important ‘ Friends ’ events listed in the summer program guide , The Annual Fred Jackson Golf Classic on June 3rd , 4th of July Festival and Fireworks , and the 2nd annual Lake Forest Music Festival on August 20th . Proceeds from these great events provide needed funds to the Parks , Recreation , and Forestry sections . I encourage you to learn more about the ‘ Friends ’ on page 37 , and if you are interested in volunteering , sponsoring an event , or donating , reach out … they ’ d love to hear from you !

Look for the ribbon-cutting for The Lawn at Deerpath Golf Course , a world-class putting and chipping experience . With support from private donors , the Friends of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Foundation , Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation , and KemperSports , our residents will have a community asset that is 30,000 square feet of challenging hills , dales , and swales to practice their putting and chipping skills . It will also offer a fun “ after-golf ” putting experience for kids , families , and group outings .

Concerts in the Square are back ! We ’ re planning a fantastic line-up of talent to fill our Thursday evenings with music , picnics , and family relaxation . New this summer we will be offering three additional concerts at different locations throughout our park system . ‘ Feel Good Party Band ’ will play at Northcroft Park on June 14th , ‘ The Student Body ’ will play at Forest Park Beach on July 12th , and ‘ Final Say ’ will finish out this series at Townline Park on August 9th . Join us for summer evenings filled with good music and great company !

In the center section of the program guide , you ’ ll find our Summer Camp offerings . Along with All-Stars , Dance , Everett Explorers , McCormick , Twigs , Wildlife , and our one-week sports camps , look for some new and exciting camps such as Asylum Skateboarding Camp and Chicago Union Ultimate Frisbee Camp .

And that ’ s just a start … Summer 2022 is lining up to be full of fun !
