The Lake Forest Dance Academy is proud to celebrate our 46th year of providing quality dance programs for all ages ! We offer a variety of classes including Tippy Toes , Ballet , Modern , Jazz , Hip Hop , and Tap . We offer challenging programs designed for the serious dance student . We also provide classes for children , teens , and adults who simply love to dance or just want to experience the rewards of this artistic discipline .
Early Years
Lake Forest Dance Academy is a member of the National Dance Education Organization and as such employs and implements the set of standards developed by the organization . These standards provide a continuum of learning and teaching dance for infants through professionals . The Standards for Dance in Early Childhood are based on neurological development , motor development , social development , and cognitive development as well as artistic learning . We base our program for infants through six years of age on these guidelines of what children should know and be able to do in the arts-making processes of performing , responding to , and interconnecting dance .
TINY TOTS DANCE ( 2Y by 9 / 1 ): Tiny Tots Dance is interactive movement , dance games and wonderful music making this a perfect introduction to dance class . Nannies , daycare givers , moms and dads participate with their child in this fun class .
TIPPY TOES DANCE ( 3Y by 9 / 1 ) captivates children and their love of movement in a wonderful exploratory dance course . PRE HIP HOP ( 4Y by 9 / 1 ) is an extension of Kinder Hip Hop and is for children who love music videos and can ’ t stop moving to the beat !
DANCE LUNCH CONNECTION : Pack a lunch and twirl your way to dance class ! Our staff will supervise your little dancers as they enjoy their lunch before and / or after dance class .
BALLET JAZZ COMBO will introduce both new dancers and previously Preschool level dancers to the style of jazz and the structure of the Graded Level classes .
BALLET TAP COMBO provides a technical foundation for the beginning tap dancer with a focus on the sounds that make up various tap steps . Students will develop an understanding of rhythm and musical skills . They will learn basic tap steps such as shuffles , flaps , and paradiddles through a variety of center , across the floor exercises , and choreographed combinations .
