OPEN LEVEL BALLET (13-18Y): Open Level Ballet is a class for the student, ages 13-18, with little to no dance experience who is looking to begin studying ballet in a more relaxed environment. Classes offered by the semester. This is a non recital class. CECCHETTI 1 THROUGH 5: Cecchetti classes offer the student a firm foundation in classical ballet technique, language and theory as well as offer opportunity for certification by the Cecchetti Council of America. The Cecchetti syllabus develops strong classical lines, solid anatomical placement, as well as beautiful jumps, leaps and beats. The Cecchetti Method of Ballet is endorsed because of its careful regard for the laws of anatomy, its teaching of movement theory and the foundation it can provide for all styles of dance. Once the Graded syllabus has been accomplished, those students wishing to be certified (with the instructor’s approval) may take the examination. Chicago area exams are held in early winter and spring. Examination is entirely optional and will incur added fees. Examination and certification is not mandatory for advancement in Cecchetti classes. 42 C What are C level classes? In order to keep the integrity of our leveled curriculum we offer continuing classes (1C, 2C etc.). These classes are for students who have completed at least one year of a level but have not yet mastered the skills required to progress to the next level. The C level curriculum moves faster and works on specific areas of development in an effort to prepare the dancers for advancement. Most students will spend at least two to three years in any given level.
