Battery . Marc Frank Zavala , 48 , of Laguna Beach was arrested on suspicion of battery on a person . He was held at $ 500 bail .

Burglary , possession of a controlled substance and burglary tools . Don Bell Wyatt , 41 , of Dana Point was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance , burglary and felony burglary . He was held at $ 51,500 bail .

finding a nugget , of which the largest were measured in ounces . As the Christmas of 1849 drew near , a rumor , surely an exaggeration , spread that the Wilsons had found a ten-pound nugget .
Wondering miners along Canyon Creek started dropping by the Wilson cabin , hoping for a glimpse of the find . The cabin was closely guarded , but the Wilsons let them in , one or two at a time , to admire their good fortune . And as they left , the miners solemnly declared Wilson ’ s discovery the greatest treasure ever .
The story of the Wilson ’ s good fortune was saved in the memoir of fellow miner William Bennett . Bennett recalled that miners came for days , walking as far as ten miles , to see the nugget . But the story had a twist — it wasn ’ t true . There was no ten-pound lump of gold . Still , the miners continued to come . The Wilsons had something arrested on suspicion of resisting an officer and disorderly conduct due to alcohol . He was held at $ 500 bail .

better to share — a newborn baby . To show their respect for the newborn babe , a few miners came bearing a gift , a ring they had fashioned from their gold . And there was another treasure . On Christmas Day , Mr . Wilson found a deposit that yielded over $ 3000 , a significant sum for the time .
So , that ’ s the story of the first Nativity in the gold camps of the Mother Lode , and the babe adored by lonely miners far from home ( first told by writer-historian Craig MacDonald in his art book , “ Old West Christmas Tales with a Twist ”). The BW and I wish you a meaningful Christmas , with the hope that children might also be the treasure of your lives . There ’ s meaning in that .
