GETZLAF GOLF SHOOTOUT More than $ 750,000 was raised for CureDuchenne , a nonprofit focused on finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy , at the 11th annual Getzlaf Golf Shootout on Sept . 9 and 10 . Taking place at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point , the event was hosted by retired Anaheim Ducks hockey Capt . Ryan Getzlaf and his wife , Paige , who have raised more than $ 5.3 million over the years for the Newport Beach-based organization to fund early stage research and other programs to help boys living with Duchenne and their families . Celebrities , professional athletes and community leaders came together for the golf tournament , but the event kicked off the night before with an MVP dinner and live auction for select sponsors and Anaheim Ducks players . The golfing day started with a breakfast for families of those with Duchenne , then golfers were greeted by Ducks Power Players and LA Rams Cheerleaders before the tournament , which included contests and giveaways such as a dunk tank and a hole-in-one opportunity to win a Porsche . NIGHT AT THE RANCH Set beneath the stars , the eighth annual Night at the Ranch raised more than $ 76,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach . Attended by about 170 supporters , the Sept . 23 event took place at The Ranch at Laguna Beach . Following a cocktail hour and silent auction , a farm-to-table dinner was presented on the golf course . A live auction featured items like a jersey autographed by Angels baseball player Shohei Ohtani and a five-night stay in a condo on Oahu in Hawaii . The band Common Sense also performed music for guests to dance the night away . Event co-chairs were Leif Hanson and Steve Blue , alumni of the local Boys & Girls Club , which provides a preschool as well as after-school enrichment programs filled with sports , arts , homework help and activities in science , technology , engineering and math , plus summer , winter and spring break camps . The Laguna Canyon branch also features The Loft for middle schoolers to do homework and hang out with friends , while The Port Teen Center at Lang Park offers space for ninth through 12th graders to socialize and take part in various activities .
