My boyfriend and I just purchased and moved into a new house a few weeks ago , so the Home & Design special section in this issue of Laguna Beach Magazine is of particular interest to me this time around . Most notably , our article highlighting homes at different price points for sale in Laguna paints a vivid picture of the current housing market
( page 42 ). After searching for a home to buy for more than a year , it ’ s clear that Orange County real estate remains in high demand . The key is working with a knowledgeable real estate agent to help you find the perfect balance between cost and desired amenities . Luckily , Laguna is blessed with many top agents to help in your search .
I was also intrigued by our story on accessory dwelling units , or ADUs ( page 52 ). While we had hoped to find a three-bedroom home , it was a two-bedroom abode that best fit our budget . But , with a large backyard , there ’ s the possibility of adding on a room or building a detached unit to use or rent out at some point down the road . As explained in our article , recent laws in California are making the process quicker and easier to build an ADU , so it ’ s good to know there may be fewer hoops to jump through if we decide to pursue that option .
In this edition , we also have a feature on the latest kitchen trends ( page 56 ). While the kitchen in our home was recently updated , it was fun to read about trends like all-blue color schemes and pieces that look more like furniture than kitchen cabinets as well as clever space savers like cutting boards that can fit atop sink basins . The story offers plenty of ideas if we ever choose to renovate .
So whether you ’ re looking to buy a home or remodel your current abode , we hope this issue provides inspiration for creating a space that you ’ ll love for years to come .
