The festival also offers art classes , most of which are free with festival admission ( a handful charge a small fee for materials ). Children ’ s Art Spot features arts and crafts for the kids ; Studio One offers a wide variety of art workshops in painting , drawing , printmaking and tie-dye for ages 7 and up ; and the Ceramic Center provides one-on-one instruction at the potter ’ s wheel for all ages .

ART-A-FAIR
Also celebrating its 49th year , Art-A-Fair presents about 125 artists , predominantly from California , although some have hailed from other parts of the U . S ., Mexico , China and Switzerland , according to Art-A-Fair President Mike Cahill .

Artists represent a broad set of mediums including photography , drawings , paintings , ceramics , sculpture , glass and jewelry .
Like the other festivals , Art-A-Fair presents live music — bands play Thursday and Friday evenings and all day on

the weekends . Art workshops are offered every day , with two- and four-hour sessions available . This year , the festival includes a live auction benefiting Laguna College of Art & Design on July 12 , and an Old Western quick draw ( a speed-based art competition using a variety of mediums ) held Aug . 9 .
In addition to these unique offerings , Art-A-Fair offers free

admission to the event to Laguna Beach residents . “ We ’ re the bestkept secret of Laguna Beach ,” Mike says . “ Everybody knows about Sawdust and ... Festival [ of Arts ], but even some Laguna Beach residents have never heard of Art-A-Fair .”
