Laguna Beach No Take Zone
Laguna’s marine life and habitats are protected
about 2.5 miles off the coast in an area deemed the
No Take Zone. The triangular space consists of the
recently sanctioned Laguna Beach State Marine
Reserve (SMR) and the Laguna Beach State Marine
Conservation Area (SMCA), which extend from
Laguna’s northern-most city limit at Abalone Point
to Table Rock Beach near downtown.
Beachgoers can enjoy quintessential summertime
activities like swimming, stand-up paddleboarding
and kayaking in the coastal waters, but fishing and
harvesting is barred, ensuring that Laguna’s natural
resources will be enjoyed for many more summers
to come.
