DS: How is your local TCG club funded? LK: The local gatherings are rather inexpensive so the girls’ parents are more than happy to cover the cost for an event. DS: What are some activities you’ve done at your local TCG club meeting? LK: Locally, we have taken the girls to see ice sculptures at Frankenmuth. We’ve dressed up with crazy hairdos and clothes and went to an area restaurant. We’ve visited a nursing home and took gifts the girls had purchased. We’ve also had our girls wrap Christmas presents for our formal night where the girls dressed up and ate from high top tables. We’ve also had a spa night and talent shows from each church in attendance. For our back-to-school get together, this will be our third year going to Mackinac Island for three days, staying one night at the Grand Hotel. DS: What are some of benefits of TCG? LK: Here is a quote from one of our directors: “I feel the challenges and peer pressures these girls face every day in this rapidly changing world are overwhelming. Our main focus for all events has been for our leaders to build relationships and form close bonds with the girls. DS: What are some district events you’ve had? LK: Every year we have a two-day conference with the theme changing from year to year. Friday night is our fun night.
