WINTER 2018/19 ActivityLSAC
THOSE WHO WISH TO PRESENT INFORMATION TO COUNCIL ARE ENCOURAGED
TO REVIEW BYLAW #29-2017, AVAILABLE ON THE MUNICIPAL WEBSITE.
APPOINTMENTS MUST BE BOOKED THROUGH THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY
OR COUNTY MANAGER A MINIMUM OF EIGHT (8) BUSINESS DAYS IN ADVANCE.
One of the accomplishments I’m most
proud of to date is the role I have played
in ensuring our roads and bridges get
the attention they so desperately need.
Roadways will continue to be an area
of focus to me throughout the remainder
of my term on Council. A great deal of
our aging road infrastructure needs to be
addressed in order to meet the realities
of today’s ever-increasing traffic volumes
and larger farm vehicles. I also see
opportunities ahead to attract industry
to the County, and to helping the small
businesses that already call Lac Ste.
Anne County home. I look forward to
working with my fellow Councillors in
this regard.
Challenges aside, we continue to make
progress working with other municipalities
toward sharing resources, breaking down
walls and achieving collective goals.
Although we don’t always share the
same insights, interests and priorities as
our neighbours, we must forge ahead in
pursuit of shared resources, collective
milestones and common ground. I am
confident that our patience and diligence
in this area will bear fruit to the net
benefit of all stakeholders.
It is with great pride that I have been
given the opportunity to represent the
hard-working people of Lac Ste. Anne
County. I will continue to work hard to
advocate for their interests, and to make
our great County an even better place to
work, play and raise a family. I’d also like
to thank County staff for bringing such
pride and passion to their jobs every
day. Without their efforts, it would be
impossible to achieve any of the goals
we set on Council.
I have chosen to participate in the same
areas that were outlined in my campaign.
Together with my committee colleagues
and County staff, I have been able to help
make inroads into these areas of interest,
focus and concern. To varying degrees,
progress has been made in all the areas
listed above. These efforts must continue
in all areas over the next four years in
order to meet my objectives. However,
one must remember that there are seven
Councillors, and attention is given to
the areas which are deemed to provide
the most benefit to the County and its
residents as agreed upon by Council.

Can you imagine! It has already been
a year since the often controversial
and innuendo-filled 2017 election. It
was with a fair bit of apprehension and
concern that I entered this term as the
representative for Division 7. However,
things have progressed fairly well this
term — albeit with the normal challenges
that face all Councils. I believe we are
developing a relatively cohesive unit,
and I am confident we all have the best
interests of the entire County at heart.
As readers may recall, I addressed
six areas of concern during my 2017
campaign, namely: roads, infrastructure,
public works and Fire Services; business
and economic development; agriculture;
connectivity; socio-economic growth; and
cooperative spirit and communication. As
witnessed by my committee involvement,
I would like to mention the topic of
cooperation and communication. I believe
the County is continuing to address
these issues and progress has been
made, however, one must not lose sight
of the fact that both cooperation and
communication are two-way streets
and must have willing participants to
be successful. Strong relationships are
developed through mutual respect and
understanding. They are obtained with
trust, a willingness to communicate, and
a give-and-take attitude. They must be
reciprocal in nature. I have utilized this
philosophy in the past and will continue
to do so into the future.
In closing, I wish to thank my fellow
Councillors and all the employees of
Lac Ste Anne County in assisting and
working with me over the past year. I am
proud that I have been able to help make
decisions toward the betterment of our
County as a whole. I am equally proud
of an administration that continues to
implement Council’s directives, working
diligently to ensure efficient operations
despite legislative and public pressures.
