BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE
CREATE YOUR OWN GRAB-AND-GO KIT
Create your own Grab-And-Go Kit to help you and your family stay safe if you have to evacuate on short notice.
Your kit should contain enough supplies to keep everyone safe and comfortable for a minimum of 72 hours.
Keep grab-and-go kit items in a backpack, duffle bag or suitcase, in an accessible location (like a front-hall
closet). Make sure your kit is easy to carry and everyone in your home knows where it is.
4 L of water for each person, per day
Non-perishable food items for family members and pets
Recyclable plates, cups, knives, forks, spoons and manual can opener
Matches, lighter, candle, small stove
Flashlight, battery-powered radio and extra batteries
Change of clothes, per person
Toiletries: soap, hand sanitizer, hygiene products, toothbrush, toothpaste
Small First-Aid Kit
Notebook and pen
Cell phone and charger with spare batteries
Deck of cards or other small games
Comfort items (family photo, warm blanket, teddy bear)
Money (small bills and change), credit cards
List of emergency contacts and phone numbers
Important documents: insurance, birth certificates, passports, licenses
Prescriptions and special medications (Alberta Health Care Card)
List of irreplacable items, personal computer files on hard drives
