Dear, Carl Jalkins
May 29th 1917 My dearest friend,
There are so many thought going through my mind when the other soldiers and I got off the battleship it was quiet to quiet. I met to other soldiers one was Luke Reggus who is 18 years old we have a lot of the hobbies like writing little stories in our free time and playing marbles or checkers. The other soldiers name is Jay Bonner he’s a cool guy we have a lot in common as well.
I cringe when our General gives us news about the on going war, He told us that our time on the frontline will come soon and we will prevail no matter what. Even through the poisonous gases, airstrikes, and tank missile with a hint of rifle barrages. I knew that I had to have the ultimate courage and survival instincts. After that tremendous speech of our chance in battle I had went to get some shut-eye It was hard because I missed all of my family members including my wife, Trinity Areks whom I married a 18 months ago. I knew in order to see her and you plus the rest of America we needed to win the war, at that exact moment I made a vow that I would not return until we the Americans and our allies win the war in Europe.
Carl, I have some news I’ll set to deploy for battle in three days! I’ll my best for you, Trinity, my family and America!! Let God Bless You All!
Sincerely, Zeldar Areks
Can you do me favor tell all of our family and friends that they need believe in us we were called for duty and we will finish it no matter the danger no matter the destruction and death we will prevail. If they don’t believe try to encourage them, because I will not let them down. I left the United States as boy, but I’ll becoming back as man!
Sincerely, Zeldar Areks
