Greetings to the readers of Label Newsletter!
We are overwhelmed with the response for the online
quiz that was conducted last month and congratulate team
Nexus for winning the event. We would also like to display a vote of thanks to Mr. Sanjay Mehta for taking the audience
through a wonderful experience in the world of Social Media.
With the cover page you would have guessed the theme for this
month’s issue. Yes, you are right! It is Fashion and Apparel Retail in
India. Fashion has been an integral part of Indian Apparel industry
right from the era of Maharajas and Mughals. The apparel industry
has seen early birds like Vimal by Reliance group and Garden Sarees
in the years 1975 and 1933 respectively.
"Indian fashion witnessed rapid growth with each passing era. In fact,
there is a shift in fashion and trends nearly every six months. This has
been a prominent aspect of the Indian fashion industry. The awareness
and purchasing power of the middle class have resulted in a sudden
boom. Also, the influx of IT companies has brought a rapid change in
work culture. International brands entering the Indian market and selling at economical prices are improving the growth of brand awareness in India in a big way. Earlier, the fashion styles and trends were
restrained by geography, culture, customs and nationalities”,
said
Vikram Phadnis in one of the interviews.
So fasten your seat belts as we take you through the apparel industry
in India, its growth, contribution to its customers and much more!!!
