On International Overdose Awareness Day , August 31 , 2023 , CDC awarded $ 279 million in funds through two Overdose Data to Action ( OD2A ) cooperative agreements , OD2A : LOCAL and OD2A in States . OD2A funding was awarded to 90 jurisdictions in localities and states across the country to support the implementation of overdose prevention activities and to enhance the collection of overdose data .
