APHL-CDC fellowships provide experiential training to bachelor ’ s , master ’ s and doctoral-level scientists in preparation for impactful careers in public health laboratory science .

Do you know anyone interested in starting an exciting new career in laboratory science , working collaboratively with industry leaders and developing professional networks ?
APHL-CDC fellowships support a wide spectrum of laboratory programs , such as : genomics , infectious diseases , food safety , quality management , newborn screening , biorisk and biosafety , bioinformatics and informatics initiatives . Each fellow is trained in nine public health laboratory core competencies and works on unique program-specific projects .
• Eligible Candidates : Bachelor ’ s , Master ’ s and Doctoral-level scientists
• Program Starts : Flexible start dates
• Program Length : One to two years

Host Labs Needed !

We encourage APHL member laboratories to apply to host fellows . The benefits of hosting include :
• Supporting ongoing laboratory services
• Supporting response to outbreaks and other investigations
• Contributing to projects that might otherwise be delayed or not initiated
• Providing supervisory and mentorship experience for host laboratory staff
• Introducing young scientists to public health laboratory science , allowing you to help shape a new generation of the workforce
• Providing a possible workforce pipeline for staff openings in your laboratory
