4 Securing Public Health Data in the Age of COVID-19
Public health laboratories have been collecting and distributing data for decades , focused on the best practice of accessing the minimum patient data necessary to do the job required . But when the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in the US in 2020 , public health laboratories began amassing data in unprecedented quantities . While the public health system has worked constantly to improve cybersecurity and data privacy protocols , there are many layers of protection that public health laboratories must engage in to ensure data accuracy , as well as to secure data for multiple uses .
