ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Workshop , Symposium and a New Tool
To launch the i-HBM Working Group , two events were held at the 2020 ISES Annual Meeting — a symposium on interpreting and communicating human biomonitoring data using per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances as a case study , and a pre-conference course on the development of derivation and application of human biomonitoring guidance values . The content of this workshop and symposium are available until the end of August to ISES members .
In addition , the i-HBM Guidance Value Database and Comparison Tool was created as a repository for currently available human biomonitoring guidance values and to facilitate understanding of how they may be used as screening tools in interpretating human biomonitoring data .
Ultimate Goal
The aim of these international collaborations is to maximize the use and incorporation of human biomonitoring data in public health decision making . Networks and collaborations allow us to maximize efficiencies and resources and anticipate emerging issues . Leveraging the collective power of expertise from colleagues around the world is extremely valuable to keep pace in a field that is rapidly evolving . n
Strengthening links between programs and increasing global harmonization of approaches will allow programs to better leverage expertise , maximize efficiencies , and promote alignment and comparability of data .
