Fellows and Mentors Gather at APHL 2022

Fellows and mentors take a break from APHL 2022 and visit the House of Blues in Cleveland , OH

APHL fellows and mentors joined current and past participants in APHL ’ s Emerging Leaders Program for a day of professional development before the start of APHL 2022 . In addition to meeting in person for the first time since beginning their fellowships , they participated in an interactive training on giving high quality presentations . Following a discussion on networking methods and skills , they put what they learned into practice during a reception with APHL ’ s Board of Directors and senior staff . Fellows who completed their program terms in 2022 were recognized at the APHL Awards Breakfast on May 19 .

APHL completed a record-breaking recruitment cycle for new fellows who started in July 2022 . A total of 120 fellows were matched to host laboratories in the following program areas :

• Bioinformatics

• Biorisk Management

• Environmental Health

• Food Safety

• Infectious Diseases

• Informatics

• Newborn Screening

• Quality Management

We look forward to working with these fellows and their host laboratories over the next year . g
