Player Development
The Player File
Head Coaches at every level will keep a file of each player to include the
following:
- Goal Setting Work Sheet
- Academic Progress
- Life Goals and Aspirations
- Practice Logs
- Game Notes
This file will be kept for the duration of the players career and passed
from coach to coach as the player progresses through the program.
The Goal Setting Work Sheet will be filled out with the assistance of the
head coach and assistant coaches after selection to the team and prior
to the first organized team activity. Coaches will then review the
worksheet every two weeks to asses progress and adjust goals on a new
work sheet.
Academic Progress will be reviewed and updated monthly and should
include a graduation plan once the player enters high school. Coaches
should be aware at all time of the academic progress for each player and
will accommodate any player requiring academic tutoring.
Note: If at any time a teacher or parent suggests academic tutoring, it will take
precedence over any practice, game or team activity and every effort should
be made to bring a player up to speed with regard to basketball. If the missed
practice(s) will result in a decrease in playing, it must be cleared through the
Head Varsity Coach and noted on the WAR Report.
