Pau Gasol
Pau Gasol announced his retirement from professional basketball last October at the age of 41 .
He got a lot of awards : ‘ NBA Rookie of the year ’. ‘ Euroscar ’ awards . Two ’ Mr . Europa ’ FIBA Europe Player of the year and Silver and Gold medals !!! He is such a wonderful person and player that we wanted to write a little bit about his life .
He was born on July 6 , 1980 in Barcelona . His mother was a Doctor . He has two younger brothers , Marc and Adria . They are as tall as he is . The three of them play professional basketball . Pau was a shy child . At the beginning he was not interested in sports . He wanted to become a doctor . He started playing basketball at his school and later signed with `CB Cornella ´. In 2001 he was named the `Most Valuable Player ´( MVP ). the same year he entered the `NBA ´ Pau Gasol is a well-known Spanish basketball player , who has played for his country ' s national team and also for the NBA . He joined the `Los Angeles LaKers ´ later the `Chicago Bulls ´ and he also played for the `San Antonio Spurs ´ He was a player of the Spanish team for the `Fiba world championship ´ and the Eurobasket tournaments . He has learnt French and Italian . He also Knows English , Spanish and Catalan . He loves reading historical books and plays classical music on the keyboard .
He has sponsored free tickets for children to watch basketball .
He is an ambassador for Spain ´ s UNICEF committee .
