In September, Pope Francis radically simplified the Catholic
marriage annulment procedures. The three main changes
entail: Eliminating a second review by a cleric before a
marriage can be nullified, Giving Bishops the ability to
fast-track and grant annulments themselves under certain
circumstances (such as spousal abuse or an occurrence of
an extramarital affair) and The process should be free,
except for a nominal fee for administrative costs, and
should be completed within 45 days. A year ago, the pontiff
established a special commission to investigate the process
in which certain cases had lasted years. He believed in
faster trials to avoid being unfair to practicing Catholics.

party, Matteo Salvini, slammed Italian premier Matteo
Renzi for comparing right wing supporters to beasts
over their approach to migration. Salvini said "You can
attack Salvini, that's ok, but if you call those who want
rules on immigration beasts, then you are a rat. If you
are the premier then govern, don't insult Italians," he
said. "Some dogs are more intelligent than some men,
even some men in the government," Salvini added.

Bishops Conference , Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, stated
in an interview that he agrees with Pope Francis’ plea
for all parishes in the entire European continent to
open their doors to refugees. The cardinal pointed out
that if each parish in Italy welcomed just one family
of four, more than 108,000 people would have
accommodations. “If a parish gives shelter to a family, it
will not just occupy a structure, the gesture will set a
solidarity and support network in motion that will do
a world of good both to those who receive and those
who offer hospitality,” the cardinal underlined.
