ibrant, exciting, dynamic,
cosmopolitan, London is
more than ever a modern
capital. Its dynamism at
all levels creates constant
changes : numerous
skyscrapers and districts
of Victorian architecture coexist alongside carefully
maintained parks. Every street corner is a source of
inspiration and the diversity of the creative scene, a
world to explore. We dive into a new and invigorating
arty London for a highly rewarding weekend !
Make room for the avantgarde
« London is a mix-and-match city ; it even created
the concept », explains Marko Matysik, stylist,
artistic director, creator and muse. « London has
been training and spurring the « new youth » for
decades because London is a pop phenomenon
itself ! Less serious than Paris, it is not as precious
as the rest of Europe ; London is reckless, sometimes
even negligent. It is on the lookout for everything :
clever and inspired, it is creative at all levels. In the
fashion industry, for example, a lot of people work
from home, making original hand-made products,
which gives the charm to the capital. London is not
set to the millimeter, not conventional. Sometimes
irreverent, it shakes up the assumptions, makes
room for the avant-garde. People come to London
from all around the globe to excite their senses,
renew themselves. The new dance moves, the last
music mix or fashion trends : the capital revisits and
innovates, rebels and sparkles. Transversality is the
ultimate trade mark of this world-class city.
Breathe the art
In London, the art is right there, before our eyes, on
every street corner : Antony Gormley’s statues are
watching from the roofs our smallest deeds and
gestures, Anish Kapoor’s red tinted mirrors multiply
tenfold the Kensington Gardens at the center of
Hyde Park, Thomas Heatherwick thinks of a bridge
rolling up like a caterpillar, while Ai Wei Wei pours
millions of hand painted ceramic sunflower seeds
into the interior of the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern.
The Gentlemen’s Club Chelsea Art Club welcomes
and houses artists from all around the world for as
little as 40 pounds a night. London breathes art…

door, the fashionable shoe shop of the moment, in
