Le lit a toujours accompagné l’humanité, depuis la nuit des temps et à travers le monde. Dans cette exposition,
le lit dépasse son statut d’objet à l’image de John Lennon et Yoko Ono, il devient un instrument politique dans
le monde de l’art pour protester contre la guerre.
Le lit accompagne toutes les phases cruciales et à un impact sur le développement d’un individu, de la naissance à la mort en passant par des scènes d’érotisme ou de solitude.
Dans cette exposition le lit devient un motif en histoire de l’art.
De nombreux artistes ont utilisé le lit dans leurs œuvres, de Laviana Fontana au XVIème siècle à Diane Arbus,
Damien Hirst, Mona Hatoum ou Nan Goldin. I Sleepless, the bed in history and contemporary art.
From January 30th to June 7th 2015 at the 21er Haus in Vienna. The bed has always accompanied humanity, from
time immemorial and around the world. In this exhibition, the bed goes beyond the status of an object. Like
John Lennon and Yoko Ono, it becomes in the art world a political instrument to protest against war.
The bed accompanies all the important phases in the life of an individual and has an impact on his development, from birth to death and scenes of eroticism or solitude.
This exhibition focuses on the bed as a motif in art history.
Numerous artists have used the bed as part of their work, from Laviana Fontana during the 16th century to
Diane Arbus, Damien Hirst, Mona Hatoum or Nan Goldin. I
